Spanish Curriculum - Primary Phase
In the Primary phase, all students follow the English National Curriculum. With regards to Spanish study, there are two pathways for our students:

-
Spanish curriculum: Spanish ‘Lengua Castellana y Literatura’ where students build the foundations in Spanish language and develop literary knowledge, and ‘Conocimiento del Medio’ where students’ learning is focused upon the subjects of History and Geography through a Spanish lens.
-
Spanish as a modern foreign language: students build and consolidate the foundations of Spanish, acquiring a firm grasp of key grammatical concepts alongside a core vocabulary on a range of topics.
Our Spanish Department works closely with the Modern Foreign Languages Department to ensure that every child in Year 2 – Year 7 follows the appropriate curriculum relative to their proficiency in Spanish. For this reason, changes between the two pathways are not uncommon.
